A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that a subject should be presented in a way that is fun for the pupil. I provide a very hands on approach to learning. If the lesson is engaging than I will argue firmly that a lesson can be extracted from the experience. Certain characteristics are important in the tutor to student relationship. The tutor shall be patient,firm,fun and fair. Every child can succeed if provided with the right resources and the utilization of their resources is essential in their academic success. A Little Bit About Me...

While working on my associates degree I tutored pre-calculus and statistics. I also worked briefly with catholic charities tutoring all subjects for high school students in need. I then completed my bachelors degree while tutoring part time at SUNY Oswego and independently with a high school student in Math and AP physics. I am currently working with that same H.S. student and now I am also working with a third grade student as well (also in math).
I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who can benefit from my experience. I love mathematics, statistics and physics and I attempt to pass that enthusiasm to my students. I am currently a sixth grade teacher at a Catholic Elementary School. I have been with the same school for the past 14 years. My experience there has been in the following grade levels: Pre-School, First Grade, Fourth Grade, Sixth Grade, Seventh Grade Math & Science, and Eighth Grade Math & Science. I have also tutored students in grades three through six in both reading and mathematics.
It is very important to me that my students have fun while they are learning. Much of my teaching is done through games and hands-on experiences. I also firmly believe in the use of technology (computers) to help teach and reinforce concepts being taught. Every child has strengths and it is important to build upon those strengths.
