Although I've never professionally tutored, I have experience teaching middle school groups about aquatic entomology and forest ecology at Clark's Reservation. I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who can benefit from my experience. I love mathematics, statistics and physics and I attempt to pass that enthusiasm to my students. I understand that there are many people who have trouble with math and science skills and becaus of that I try to explain technical concepts with easy to understand examples before submercing the student into computations that are difficult. I think that my best attribute as far as teaching goes is the ability to get the main ideas across to any student by giving each student examples that they can understand and feel empowered by their understanding.

A Little Bit About Me...

You can preach all you want to children, but if you don't teach, there will be no learning. I believe that children will learn from someone they trust to talk to and from someone who they trust to give them the correct answers to their questions. I enjoy being that person. I like being the person who will sit next to them, talk to them, and help them out. I do not want to be the person across from them speaking without any word from my students. I am teacher who provides my students with energy to succeed. I want to keep their attention for as long as I can on the given criteria, boring or not. Sometimes all someone needs to succeed is a little bit of help and who am I to not offer it to them?
I have taught in many areas of study. Since I was young, I taught my younger family members the importance of manners, honesty, care, and responsibility. I believe this has carried into my r ... read more

I encourage students to ask a lot of questions about the material they do not understand. The student has already heard the lecture from the teacher or professor, so I feel there is not much point to just repeating the lecture. If students ask questions, they will be more receptive to the information that is given in the answers. I also like to use examples or demonstrations to relate the material to "real life", as opposed to just teaching abstract concepts. Above all, I try to keep it interesting for the student.

I feel that one of my strengths is my creativity towards learning. Not all people learn in the same manner, therefore my teaching style depends on the person I am working with. Some people learn best through rhythm and tones, other through notes and elaborate explanations, samples and examples.I am a very patient person and I do not like to give up but explore the numerous creative manners in which to unlock learning for an individual. I have a very relaxed, easy going personality myself and I am approachable and understanding. However I am honest and firm in my values and beliefs. Learning should have a level of sustainability to it and build upon experiences, cultures, and beliefs.

I attended Houghton College for 2 1/2 years. Then I went to NCCC and earned an AS, then transferred to Charter Oak State College.
