I believe in a teaching style that reflects a student's learning style. Whether they learn best by hearing, seeing, or doing it is important to cater to the student. My teaching style works around this philosphy and tends to be a combination of all 3 styles. Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I believe a successful instructor is the most important part of teaching; one who is knowledgeable, wise, and be able to effectively communicate the knowledge to the students. I believe this can be achieved primarily by knowing the entirety of the subject taught and being able to connect with the students on an individual basis. The most effective instructors in my experience especially in higher education were effective at answering in dept questions on the spot and being able to connect with students with the course material rather than presenting facts or knowledge. I've recently finished the licensing program through the University of Minnesota. I expect to have my Minnesota State Teaching License in Elementary Education k-6 and Middle School Language Arts 5-8 by mid summer. Along with my teaching degree I have received a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders and have been working as a camp counselor through the Autism Society of Minnesota for the last three summers.
