I enjoy working with students. It seems that, in most cases, tutoring is essentially a confidence-builiding exercise. Yes, it's anout instructional leadership, but it's more about showing a student they can really achieve what they're setting out to do. I really enjoy showing students that they know the solution; it's just about learning how to properly express it. And if they don't know the solution, it's about properly learning it in order to express it.

I went to University of South Carolina and I helped with some of the teachers with their tutoring sessions. I also helped with tutoring in high school. I have just recently moved to TN and I am looking for a fun and different kind of job where I am able to help people.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very matter-of-fact and flexible. Some students learn by listening, others by reading, and still more by doing. It is my job to determine which students need which type of teaching. It's important to never let the student feel I am judging his abilities in a negative manner while still making sure he learns from his mistakes.
When getting my Bachelor's degree, English was my chosen major. I chose the subject because I love to read and write, and excel at both of those things. I first became passionate about teaching while I was teaching English in China. I received a BS in Bible with a minor in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), which has provided me with an understanding of linguistics, teaching methods, grammar, and language acquisition. I also have eleven months experience teaching English in Thailand. While teaching there, I also studied Thai in a Thai language school.
