I love working with all children. Everyone learns different and there are different techniques that you can use for different kinds of children. The goal is for the child not to get frustrated and to enjoy learning.

I enjoy working with students. It seems that, in most cases, tutoring is essentially a confidence-builiding exercise. Yes, it's anout instructional leadership, but it's more about showing a student they can really achieve what they're setting out to do. When getting my Bachelor's degree, English was my chosen major. I chose the subject because I love to read and write, and excel at both of those things. In high school and college, I tutored middle and high school - aged children. I was able to find and help those kids because my parents were teachers; thus, so were their friends who needed tutors. As a professional editor and writer, I have the experience necessary to help these kids grasp one of the harder languages, English. French was my language in high school and I took Russian in college. I plan on participating in an acclerated program to learn Spanish next summer.

I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. I believe in starting with the basics, and making sure that the students truly grasps the subject matter before moving to more difficult concepts.
