French, Math, and Arabic Tutor

I am a Native Arabic and French Speaker. I have spent the last five years teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic speakers at the American University of Sharjah. I have also worked with High school and college students tutoring Math. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and plenty of experience working in Learning centers, with tutoring companies, and privately. I have helped students develop the skills to change their grades from C to B and A.
The first thing I’d like to first teach my students about Math, Arabic, and French is that they are relevant and fun, so they are in turn interested in learning them, which will make the subject easy to teach, and allow for pleasant engagement of the students and myself. Math and languages require the students to be active participants. I have come to learn that those who attend lectures passively tend to fall behind. While the material can be s ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is one focused on hands on. I set up one class in Del Mar where the students developed a Web site for an outside nonpropfit client for free in one semester. This was well received, provided good experience to students and built good relationship between education and local industry. I loved moving from working in industry with computers to be teaching how to used them. The one on one experience with students teaching them to become computer experts was challenging and very exciting. Helping a student to progress is great and very rewarding.
I worked in industry with computers the first 20 years of my career in Caracas, Venezuela. I worked the next 27 years in education as faculty at Brigham Young University and upon retirement at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. At both places I was teaching computer programming and design and at Del Mar Web design and imp ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As a engineer I have been training operators in everything form SPC to troubleshooting for 30 years. I am a volunteer tutor for Adult ESL & GED for the Literacy Council of Williamson County since June 2009.
I have worked with adults. I prefer a one on one direct instruction and mentoring, keeping everything simple and fun. I am not sure how well I would be with children; I have none of my own and have not spent much time with my nephews and nieces. I have worked with a few of my friends children, helping them understand algebra, showing them how simple it really is and how it can be fun.

More About This Tutor...

While in college (1988-1994), I worked as a grader in the math department, with a goal of providing useful feedback to the students. I also began working as a tutor at Austin Community College (ACC) in their free learning labs at this time. I have worked at ACC for about 10 years, tutoring math classes from basic math through calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, discrete math and probability. I also tutor physics, chemistry, statistics and writing. I have done some classroom teaching of the lower level math classes, but, as I do not have a master's degree, I cannot, by law, formally teach the upper level classes, though I would like to, and though I have been used as a substitute teacher on occasion for these classes.
My goal when working with students is to fully describe the steps necessary to solving various classes of problems, often in an outline form, for ... read more
