Learning is the most natural thing for humans to do. We all come into this world with the desire and capacity to learn. We learn through exploration, questioning and discovery. A teacher’s role is to guide students in a process of discovery about the world and about themselves. I emphasize mastery, not “covering the material”. Just going through the book does not make an education. Mastering new skills, relevant to making better decisions in life, makes an education.
I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses for over 20 years. I have a PhD in Business Administration with an emphasis in business statistics and operations management. I also have an MBA and an ME and BS in Mechanical Engineering. I have tutored students in all topics related to quantitative analysis and management.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that the best way to learn is to have someone discover for themself or find a way to teach themselves the concept. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. In tutoring, I help guide the child to what they need to be doing without giving them the answer or spelling it out too much for them. I also have a way of making learning hands-on and am a very visual person, so I will come up with visual representations to help the student learn better. I've never met a "stupid" student. I see all people as capable, as long as they are willing. I find it easy to get a student interested in a subject when they have usually been bored in class. I easily create metaphors and practical examples for application of the subject at hand so the student can personalize their studies. Once a student sees how the subject "fits" in their life, their interest level often changes.

I am currently between my junior and senior year at Coastal Carolina University where I have a 3.998 GPA. I have received many honors and awards for my academic achievement such as induction to the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society.
