My comments on tutoring Microsoft Access : I've used Access since 1997. I think it's a GREAT tool to explain database design. I can also help explain why you should not use it outside an educational context.

There is a saying, "between the teacher and the taught becomes the teaching". The institutions of higher education are changing rapidly, and I am equally excited about the opportunity to learn from my students and the fresh new perspective they bring. While attending BYU I worked in the student advisement center part-time, mentoring and helping students develop their schedules, and tutored them in subject matter from courses I'd already completed. I served as a volunteer representative for the LDS church for two years in Denmark and Iceland. I speak fluent Danish and Norwegian, and I taught extensively on many topics to all age groups while over there. First of all, I like teaching physics and math. Many students complained that physics was too hard for them to learn. I think the main problem is that they learned it too fast and couldn’t understand the basic concepts. They need some more time and patience to figure out the basic mechanisms and develop the necessary skills and abilities to solve the concrete problems. These skills/abilities are so critical if they want to pursue a career in the areas of engineering and science in their future lives. I usually encourage students to use their full potentials to solve their “hard” problems. Once they get their solutions, I will show them how I solve this problem and how many different ways I can use to solve the same problem. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the course of the last 10 years both in the workplace and earning a 4 year degree I have learned many important skills in the areas of math. reading, and writing. I have had to used these skills in research papers, class projects, creating reports for VP of companies, creating profit margins and so on.
