I have completed 5 years of Sign Language classes. I am a Deaf Education major. I was a babysitter growing up for my brothers and friends. I completed high school with 24 college credits, I was accepted into Flagler College and have been attending for 3 years. I received enough scholarships to completely cover my tuition. I have coached gymnastics to kids for 6 years. I have worked with deaf kids, autistic, and children with Down's syndrome.

I began teaching in 1998. My previous job was taken away by forces of nature. I had taken advantage of the Military Troops to Teachers Program with no clear pathway to practice. Until I found myself with a possibility of unemployment. I I applied at a correctional facility and I was hired over the next week. Hence my introduction to the classroom and the world of academia. Over the next five years I was fortunate enough to teach both classroom and computer lab, loving the challenges and accomplishments more and more everyday. Since graduating, I have taught at the Katzenbach School for the Deaf as well as the Florida School for the Deaf. I am currently teaching Physical Science and Language Arts to 8th graders at FSDB. In addition, I work after school in the recreation department where I facilitate activities for students of all age levels. I have tutored students in Math, Reading, Language Arts, and Science.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe patients is the key to all with learning. Especially to children who have a hard time at school or may come from a family that education is not emphasized. Children no matter what age can feel fustration and anxiety from others remaining calm, positive and assuring is the best way to get a child relaxed enough to be able stopo worrying about all other things going on in the lifes and focus on the subject at hand.
