I feel the need for tutoring is the need to simply obtain information in a form that is different from the one presented in the classroom. As a tutor, I work to break things down into their constituent pieces and explain each of these pieces in turn. This is a more time-intensive method of instruction, of course, as the breaking down of information is totally dependent on the way it must be done for it to make sense to the student. Although mathematics was my college minor, I spent 90% of my 30+ years in education teachingh the subject. Areas taught ranged from seventh grade math through Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II at the high school level. In addition, I taught algebra and trigonometry as a member of the adjunct faculty at Terra Community College.
