A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. I am very qualified to work in a tutoring capacity.
I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned two bachelor degrees, one in Information Systems and Business Processes and the other in Communications and Media. I believe that education is very important and am now continuing my education, I plan to receive my Masters in Higher Education in May 2012. I have worked as a counselor at a young female enrichment program for the last two years, and enjoyed tutoring in Math, Science, Digital Arts and would love to tutor in other subjects if needed.

I come from a family of educators -- a college professor, a principal, an elementary school teacher, and a school counselor and basketball coach. I think all of these members of my family have influenced me in a positive way in regards to teaching. I am a compassionate, patient person and am willing to help when people need it. The civil engineering program that I successfully completed into a 4 year BS degree, was math and science intensive, with about half the courses requiring laboratory work. My highest math course was in differential equations, also I completed physics, chemistry, and electrical course material. I have had 9 years experience as either field engineer or construction superintnedent. Writing reports, conducting training and development seminars was a standard part of either job, whether the subject was construction means and methods, safety concerns or design changes. Communicating, informing, instructing and guiding were mandatory capabilites.
