I believe every person has her or his own learning style. The best way to get a child to understand her or his own potential is to get to know each individual student. It takes a little more time, but making sure each student knows I care about their individual success has enabled me to teach those who never thought they would be able to speak in public to do so. Since I have tutored for several years, I've found that every person learns slightly differently. The key to how I teach is to figure out how that person best learns. There is no such thing as a stupid person, just one who hasn't been taught in a way that they can understand yet. I am a firm believer in never giving up on someone, particularly when I know that they can do it.
