I have known that teaching is my calling since I was a Freshman in high school. Learning how everything works has always facinated me and sharing that has been equally rewarding. I believe that learning can be fun when it is relevant and interactive. Students have to be given a vested interest in the learning process, asked questions. An environment of trust in which student's inquiry is encouraged is the best way of learning. Moreover, I thing that teachers have to use complementing mediums for teaching (ie. I began tutoring during my senior year of high school as a favor for a family friend. I soon realized the demand for private tutoring services and began taking it more seriously. While attaining my Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry, I would frequently tutor friends who needed extra assistance. Years of laboratory experience allowed me to gain an understanding of scientific writing styles, and to expand my writing and researching techniques. A Little Bit About Me...

It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. Being a 1:1 teacher allows me the freedom and time to work with a student on a concept in a number of ways until the cognition sets in for him. Being enthusiastic and excited about the learning experience is contagious. I always think about the teachers who were indifferent compared to the ones who were animated. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals.
