Balance is the Key to Life

I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day.
My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently.

I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.
I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. For me, relating to children is effortless; I am quite apt to quickly gaining their attention as well as their confidence. Sadly, many students face the challenge of losing focus; as a teacher, I hope to be able to instill unwavering motivation and drive into each student, and help shape their characters that is essential in fulfilling a rewarding life as they enter into adulthood.
