I got my bachelor's degree with concentration on statistics in Beijing Normal University, which is the best teacher training university in China, and received all rounded training to make a teacher. In summer of 2007, I joined a summer camp team and volunteer to tutor math in a far away high school. Currently i am working as teaching assistant in University of Connecticut. The evaluation from my college students is good enough.
There is no uniquely perfect method for different students. I intend to think as a student and set different goals and solutions for different students. Each student requires a different approach to teaching. With this in mind, I prefer to sit one on one and work from the bottom up to try to figure out exactly where some of the issues may be. Once you better understand what it is the student isn't following, you must find a new approach to explaining the topic and reviewing it. I also believe the student must research answers on his or her own. The ability to memorize something is helpful, but it is more important to know how to find the answer or work through an answer. Often times students just memorize answers without understanding the buildup to the answer.
