I find that many students in high school are not ready for college and struggle when they attend. The reason they are not ready is because they do not spend much time learning how to learn. I believe the main job of teachers is to teach students learning skills and strategies. We all have different abilities and strenghths, but we can all learn these strategies. My teaching style is to give students a strong feeling of safety and structure and then help them to create and attain their learning goals. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University in 2005. I have earned a BA in Psychology. In my senior year in college, I had an opportunity to work at a psychiatric residential treatment program, where I worked with adolescents with serious mental disturbances. In addition, I tutored several children throughout my college years. I also taught Japanese at an after-school program for a semester in West Virginia.
