I am a former UConn graduate (1984) with a BS in Marketing. Many of my electives were in mathematics, enabling me to work as a student tutor on campus. I have also completed coursework in anatomy and physiology. In addition to tutoring college level students I have worked with elementary and middle school children in church youth groups, assisting with bible verse memorization and reading skills,as well as staging music productions. My experience also includes homeschooling my own children and assisting in classrooms.
My teaching style is relaxed, but focused. I believe all children can be natural learners, especially when they find something that interests them. Patience is the key with children. Every child has their own pace and learning style. Some are very visual learners while others need to be able to be more hands-on. It is very rewarding helping someone succeed.

I like to teach with a light touch. As a parent I have nurtured teenagers through challenging times. My experience has taught me that most kids only want to study those subjects that interest them. Unfortunately, they have to study even their least favorite subjects. I have found that once they start to do better in a given subject, their interest in it increases and the grades improve soon afterward. Learning can be fun, but getting good grades is even more so.
