A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and I like to teach using examples. I like to present the material in a variety of ways with the knowledge that some students are visual learners and some benefit more from verbal examples. I would provide everyday examples and relate the problems to everyday situations. I will also provide an interactive and engaging teaching style because I believe that if the student can explain the problem to me in their own words I can tell if they are understanding the material and not just learning to replicate a solution.

Tutoring has taught me that perseverance and patience are the keys to tackling tough situations, and I try to pass that along to others. My first tutoring experience occurred during my attendance at South Georgia College (SGC). At SGC I was a tutor for Student Support Services and was responsible for providing academic tutoring to my peers in various academic subjects. After graduating from SGC, I continued to provide tutoring services with the Sylvan Learning Center and the America Reads program at the University of Georgia. Under the provisions outlined by these programs, I provided academic tutoring in reading and mathematics to students in elementary, middle, and high school. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to first evaluate what might work best for the student. I truly have had success working with children and I enjoy being able to make a difference. I enjoy knowing that the I can always learn something new and I pass that perspective on to the children that I am helping.
After receiving my teacher certification from the state of Georgia, I taught the 4th grade for 3 years. This grade is inclusive, so I taught all subject. During those 3 years and even later I tutored reading and math to a variety of students.
