My teaching, tutoring, style emphasizes flexibility. While there are specific learning units that should be taught and retained by the student, the flexibility of the teacher, or tutor, will assist the learning experience for the student. It is my personal goal to strive for not only specific subject material teaching, but to also teach problem solving and critical thinking to any student in my classes. Using my undergraduate degree in accounting, I have 10 years work experience as an internal auditor and a computer accounting staff accountant for three CPA firms. I have an additional number of years of work experience as a mid-level manager of computer programmers and web developers. I believe children learn by experiences and examples. Making it relevant and interesting makes them to want to learn. They begin to understand the purpose for learning the material. Children have different learning styles and every child doesn't learn at the same rate. Teachers must realize this when planning lessons. Students need to know that to have the basics such as a home, a car and food for their family, they need an education. Kids don't think about the future and how their decisions will determine the rest of their lives. I have discovered that every students is capable of achieving greatness if someone will take the time and effort to learn their learning style. I pride myself in being able to break things down to the most basic levels if necessary in order to reach a student. I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters. I have a fascination with math and numbers. My extensive experience with budgeting and using spreadsheets and formulas has kept me fresh with my math skills.
