I am a whole brain power teacher. Most of my experience is with exceptional children from a range intelligence. Intelligence is relative, and it is the teacher's job to highlight a student's strengths. I am preparing to graduate in the spring of 2011 from Mississippi State University with a special education degree. I have studies pedagody and methods for two years with a range of experiences in all types of classrooms. I will be a highly qualified teacher in the spring. I have been in a classroom since I was conceived. My parents are high school science teachers. I have studied a variety of subjects, and I have a deep content understanding of math and science. I have tutored college students in anatomy and physiology and college algebra.

I graduated from one of the top teaching schools in the nation (according to NCATE), and have a degree in elementary and special education. I specialized in math education, but am also qualified to teach English, science, and social studies. I have worked with children as young as 2 years old and as old as 15 in a formal setting. I have helped children go from hating a subject to being successful and loving it. I first and foremost believe that every child can learn, and I refuse to entertain any idea that says otherwise. I have found that a constructivist approach works best for most children, and I will always try this approach first. I try to make learning as hands on and relevant to the real world as possible.

During my experience as a tutor, I like dealing with the type of student who is willing to learn and put forth an effort. I like to show students how to solve the problem and then give them an opportunity to display what they have learned. Math is a difficult subject and it is important to learn the dynamics step by step. I would prefer to help the student who wants to learn and retain versus the crammer who wants to try to learn everything the night before a test. I would like to work with a student on a continuous basis so that I can see the progress being made and see how my tutoring has made a difference. I graduated from the University of Memphis in December 2005. During my time at the U of M, I tutored college level math courses. I took Calculus I, II, & III and did well in all three. Math is my passion and I aspire to share that passion by helping students through tutoring.
