I earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and a minor in Biochemistry ins 2007 from the University of Colorado. I attended the University of Hawaii briefly where I was a teaching assistant for freshman level general chemistry lab. I taught lab, prepared quizzes, tests, and oversaw the general safety of my students. I also during this same time worked in the tutorial room where students of all levels of chemistry could come in with questions regarding homework, quizzes, and questions prior to the exam.
I believe in teaching by example. I know especially in chemistry, examples help see the proper technique and variables needed to solve the problem. I feel that if a student is memorizing an equation but does not understand the process of finding and filling in variables, this will not help them get to the correct answer. I know that all students learn differently. I try to cater my teaching to fit the individual student. I know what may work with one student will not work with another student. I am patient, conciderate and caring. I want my students to gain some knowledge of the subject they are having trouble with. I think the main thing that I would want a student to gain is knowledge and understanding, also that there are people out there that can help them to accomplish their goals. I also hope that I can be one of the people to help them accomplish these goals.
I am a recent gradtuate of Middle Tennessee State University where I majored in Chemistry with a minor in secondary education. I have recently filed to obtain my license to teach chemistry.
