As a visual learner and instructor, I believe the best way for children to retain information is by breaking down the task itself and visualizing it in stages/phases. Often times children feel overwhelmed by the countless lessons taught inside the classroom, resulting in defeated attitudes and poor grades. With the right learning fundamentals, children can attack their assignments with confidence and ease. I speak from experience as I was an elementary parent's nightmare. In all cases, I prefer to individualize as much as possible- doing heavy diagnostics to find strengths and weaknesses so I can teach to the strengths and buoy up the weaknesses.
