I use a teaching paradigm that stresses the importance of student's needs and learning styles. They practice reading the story for 1 minute, many times, marking their stopping place and recording how many words they've read onto their reading log. There are questions they answer about the story for comprehension. The reader is then ready for a hot read with the tutor. Their reading words per minute is always improved from their cold read. Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that.
I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin.
