A Little Bit About Me...

I am a teacher of 20 years. My experience includes elementary, middle, and high school. I also taught for one year overseas. I have 3 years experience working as a tutor. I possess a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education. During the past 5 years I have worked at a self-paced charter school working with the program ALS. Although my expertise is in social studies, I'm perfectly capable of teaching algebra and language. I also have years of experience in the classroom.
I would describe my teaching style as flexible. I believe that students learn differently and it's up to the teacher to adjust accordingly. My greatest asset as a teacher is my patience. If a student doesn't get it it's no problem. We just do it again and perhaps in a different manner. I do believe that all students are capable of learning and it's up to the teacher to lead th ... read more

I just returned to the US from Shanghai where I worked as a teacher of Science, Social Studies, English and Literature. I have extensive experience as a teacher and tutor. I am very good with students and have over 5 years experience teaching and tutoring. I am excellent teaching reading, writing, and essay writing. I generally tutored 2 to 4 hours after school, worked with a special student diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, taught a writing workshop for gifted students and was editor for the monthly school newsletter.
In over five years of teaching and tutoring I have found that many students need to achieve some type of success with school. Many students have gotten behind or had bad experiences in school and if a teacher can give them some form of success in school they often turn a corner and begin to improve in their studies. With continued positive reinforcement and ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked in educational assessment for eight years, developing custom tests (in the reading/language arts and social studies content areas) for state departments of education. My focus was on creating tests (multiple-choice and essay-based) in alignment with state standards. In light of my extensive assessment experience, I understand how tests are written and organized, and I understand how to help students prepare for tests, as well as how to complete other assignments. Earlier, I worked as a substitute teacher at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, and also taught Algebra I for three summers at a high school. I understand what teachers are likely to expect of students at various grade levels and in various subjects.
I enjoy reviewing an assignment, lesson, chapter, or other student material, and determining what is needed from the student. I also believe in ... read more

Teaching is one of passions as I am always interested in learning. I feel that the quality of the knowledge obtained rests without doubt in the ambitions the student possesses challenging the teacher to present his best. I have taught and cared after juveniles up to 14 years old, girls, boys, chalenged and all. Planning, daycare and one on one instruction were all on the agenda which helped sharpen my teaching skills
As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. Proof of this is shown by the length of my undergraduate work, six years with enlightening pauses in between to broaden my mind through travel. Biology is my strong suit however math such as physics, calculus and even chemistry ... read more

I ask students demonstrate the skills they already possess, working step-by-step through subject matters with the student taking the lead. I also work to build studying skills by assisting students in looking up information they do not know and methods they are struggling to apply. I strive to build a supportive environment where questions are welcome. I firmly believe that all students are capable of learning and building skills to help them succeed academically.
As a young lawyer, I am proficient in all subject matters and excel in grammatical skills and language arts. I graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC. A Little Bit About Me...

Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that.
I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin. I went to Taiwan for two months from March-May 2010 and helped teach in a "Bushiban" or cram school to kids aged 6-15. I am currently looking for a full-time job relating to my degree.

A Little Bit About Me...

I pride myself in having completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree when I was 21 years of age. The degree I completed was a Liberal Arts Degree with an emphasis in Philosophy and Minors in English, Spanish and Music. I feel that this type of a degree gives an individual a well rounded and inclusive outlook regarding many subjects, whether it be Math, History, Reading, Science, Music and/or Art. A few years after I received my degree, I acquired a multiple subject teaching credential from Chapman University, which I utilized here in the Santa Maria/Bonita School District for several years. I was a substitute school teacher for K-6 grades, predominately. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which is a neccesity in the Santa Maria Valley, with such a large number of farmworker families.
