While attending Lenoir Community College, I was named to the Dean's List several semesters, named Outstanding Student of the Month, and listed in Who's Who Among Junior College Students. I graduated with an Associate in Arts Degrees in English and in Elementary, Middle Grades and Special Education. I am currently employed by the State of North Carolina as a Youth Counselor where I have extensive experience with students with diagnosises such as ADD,ADHD and ODD. I am an experienced Substitute Teacher for the Lenoir County School System and formerly was employed by Sylvan Learning Centers as a tutor for grades 3 through 12. I will graduate from Fayetteville State University on December 11, 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.

I love to help students become over achievers. I discovered that my success is directly related to how I overcame my past challenges with math, particularly Algebra. Reflecting back on the years when I attended high school, I struggled with math. Once I was accepted to NC A&T, I realized that I had developed a fear of math and did not understand basic algebraic concepts. After being assigned a peer tutor as a freshman, I overcame my fear of math. Due to his mentoring I was successful at conquering math concepts and performed well in all other academic courses. I successfully completed my degree in 1993 graduating with honors. This success has inspired me to teach and tutor math. I am committed to teaching and tutoring students.
