I consider myself more of a facilitator than a dictator but I do expect my students to show initiative. My goal is for every student to succeed. I have historically been a sketch artist. This talent led to me into graphic design for advertising. I later majored in advertising and worked several internships and practicums with a variety of ad agencies and publication, including Southern Living. Over half of my 24-year is comprised of creative management positions. Recently, I decided to get back into higher education to earn my Masters degree in graphic design.

While attending Lenoir Community College, I was named to the Dean's List several semesters, named Outstanding Student of the Month, and listed in Who's Who Among Junior College Students. I graduated with an Associate in Arts Degrees in English and in Elementary, Middle Grades and Special Education. I am currently employed by the State of North Carolina as a Youth Counselor where I have extensive experience with students with diagnosises such as ADD,ADHD and ODD. I am an experienced Substitute Teacher for the Lenoir County School System and formerly was employed by Sylvan Learning Centers as a tutor for grades 3 through 12. I will graduate from Fayetteville State University on December 11, 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. My greatest satisfaction is found in helping youth. I have spent the last 10 years as a student and as an instructor. I realized that I needed computer skills and decided to get the skills necessary to survive. While I was a student, I acted as a tutor. This reminded me how much I love teaching. After I graduated from Nash, I began working as an adjunct instructor. In this capacity, I have worked in all levels of education. I enjoy corporate training and immured instruction. I am currently trying to finish my MS in Instructional Technology at East Carolina University. I have tutored every thing from basic English and Math to Networking. I have a minor in English. I love teaching and enjoy working with children and adults. The only thing I ask is that the student be willing to learn. I love any learning environment. I love to make the most of any learning opportunity. Learning is not limited to the classroom. I learn new things every day.
