In a world where you can be anything, be yourself.

My teaching style varies by the student. If the student learns fast and is persitent, I will move at a faster state, but if the student learns at a normal or a slower pace I will move at a rate in which the child will get the most out of the tutoring experience.
I have helped children and teens from all ages in the field of English as well as performing arts. I have a passion for fine arts and literature and enjoy tutoring and helping others. I also have a passion for mathematics and have tutored several classmates in past years. I use several teaching styles. Whatever works for that particular student. Some students are visual. They need to see what you are talking about. Others are good listeners; they can listen and learn. Some students need to do. All students need practice and I try to provide them with plenty of practice to ensure that they have mastered the topic.
I started teaching in 1989. Not only I have tutored students on different grade levels, but also worked as a classroom teacher in grades Pre-k through High School. I have taught integrated math and algebra I & II. All of my students gave me a positive feedback. They understood the topic well and was able to pass assigned tests. I am more than capable of helping any student succeed. Teaching is my career and hobbie.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : 9Th Grade high school level

I am a graduate of Chowan University with a BA in Mathematics. While at Chowan I was one of the lead math tutors where I tutored college students in college algebra, intro to college algebra, applied calculus, and a few local high school students in geometry. Most of the time I worked with single students but I am also able to manage 2 or 3 at a time and/or groups of 2 or 3.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I love math! I can guide you in ways to help you understand solving for x, and any other mathematical steps we may need to take.

I am very laid back, and I go over a lot of review to make sure the information is understood. I also will work with you if you can't meet on certain days, or if you have a busy schedule.
I love math! I have always gained a quick understanding of math, and have enjoyed it throughout my whole experience throughout school. I enjoy working with numbers. I took higher math courses in middle school, and when I completed Early College I was also taking higher math on the college side. I took pre-Calculus on the college side, and skipped over AFM.

A Little Bit About Me...

My greatest satisfaction is found in helping youth. I strongly believe that education is one of the strongest foundations that one can have. I enjoy working one on one, providing the necessary encouragement and support that all children need to be successful. I am caring and patient. My ultimate teaching goal is to enable the child to become academically successful without the teacher.
While attending Lenoir Community College, I was named to the Dean's List several semesters, named Outstanding Student of the Month, and listed in Who's Who Among Junior College Students. I graduated with an Associate in Arts Degrees in English and in Elementary, Middle Grades and Special Education. It has been proven that students have different styles of learning. Thus, I understand that my tutoring approach will not be the same for each client. I usually start off with a detailed explanation of the problem that includes diagrams and models. If that is not enough, then I usually try a more spatial approach to the problem by demonstrating science and math in everyday life. I am very patient and easy-going, however, I am very dedicated to making sure students grasp the information that I have been assigned to teach.
My area of expertise is Chemistry, however, I have tutored students in all areas of science and math. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biotechnology. I also have a PhD in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry. As a teaching assistant in graduate school, I taught General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Lab. However, ov ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me. That they made me feel great and it really made me enjoy what I did because I helped a lot of the students turn the weaknesses into strengths.
I feel as though every child can achieve the impossible, and with the help of someone giving them the attention that they deserve and need, they will feel better about themselves as well. I want to get a child in a learning mood where they'll want to go to school everyday and learn something. I want to be an inspiration to them or a role model or someone they can look up to for advice so that they can follow in my footsteps as far as finishing high school and continui ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have informally tutored people of various age ranges in the subjects, physics and math , for a period that ranges over about three years . I have taught younger relatives as well as helped people informally on online tutoring message boards with math and physics problems. I have also been paid to assist students in how to operate the basic commands of computational mathematical software for three years as well.
I would be glad to work with students of all ages, but I prefer to work with a student individually rather than work with students in a group. From both my experience of being an informal tutor and being tutored, I find that students general prefer this style of tutoring because the tutor can both focus and better access their student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular academic subject they are having difficulty with.
