A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an elementary school teacher for nearly 18 years. I taught for 7 years in Elk Creek and 10 years in Los Molinos where I currently teach 2nd and 3rd grade. I earned Glenn County Teacher of the Year in 1998 and Tehama County Teacher of the Year in 2007. I was also named Glenn County Teacher of the Week for Channel 7 News in 1999. From 1992 to 1996 I trained in study skills for the History and Geology departments at Chico State through the Equity Services Office. This included a 3 hour training session each week in addition to tutoring individually and in groups for struggling college students. This was 4 of the greatest years ever! This University training really helped prepare me for the world of teaching and tutoring.

I have completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a double option in Accounting and Finance, as well as a second major in Economics, from California State University, at Chico (CSUC). I was an academic tutor for the Student Learning Center at CSUC for two semesters, where I attained an advanced level tutoring certificate from the College Reading & Learning Association. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have my California substitute teaching credential. I have worked previously for Placed County Office of Education and Yuba County Office of Education, substitute teaching. I currently work for Paradise Oaks Youth Services as a residential counselor, specifically on the 7 to 3 shift, tutoring the kids to help them complete their individual school program. At Paradise Oaks Youth services I work with emotionally disturbed teenage boys, but as a substitute teacher, I worked K12 and special education. My bachelors degree is in Applied Computer Graphics, and my Masters is in Forensic Psychology (to be completed February 2011). I plan on continuing my education to the doctoral level.
