Children energize me, and I thrive on working with students and helping them learn. After almost 30 years of teaching, I have learned that each child has their own individual strengths and weaknesses. I try to encourage them in their strengths in order to help them in their weak areas. I also try to determine their particular learning style and make learning rewarding for my students. All children deserve a quality education, and my goal is to help them make the most of their academic career--to enjoy learning and become a lifelong learner.

I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. I was a "class teacher" at a friend's daycare part time, and I held a summer job as a lifeguard and swim instructor for many years. I find that when teaching something new or difficult, it is best to find a way it relates to each individual. Once you discover this, you can make it fun and relavent for them.
As a graduate of a Health Science program at a competitive public university, Clemson University, I showed an understanding of many science disciplines. I was home-schooled until the sixth grade with my three brothers. I completed junior high at a private school and then graduated Salutatorian from a public high school. My parents operated a small day care that I worked in with school age children completing homework assignments. I have also worked in a Day Care as a caregiver for small children. Volunteering at a Family Literacy program and doing Student Practicums for three years followed by a semester of Student Teaching have all prepared me to teach children from all backgrounds with different educational and emotional needs.
