I am an excellent teacher/mentor. Hire me, hire the best!

I began teaching in 2011 as a tutor at a local tutoring facility. I quickly realized that I had a gift for teaching and a passion for doing so. I continued to tutor at this facility for 3 years. My schedule remained full as I was in high demand once word got out that there was a good math tutor. I decided to leave the tutoring facility in order to pursue my artistic passions through music. Shortly after leaving, though, I got some phone calls from the parents of previous students asking if I would still teach their children. After some thought, I obliged and began tutoring privately. I get along well with everyone, and I am eager to share my knowledge with all willing to accept it.

I started teaching professionally in Tampa, Florida in 1992. I continued to teach in the Florida Public Schools until 1999 before I returned to school to earn my Master's. Now, I teach English to Adults at Wallace Community College, which I have been doing since 2003. I love what I do. When I got my Master's in 2005, I was able to conduct classroom research which enabled me to reach a deeper level in the principles of both linguistics and the science of learning. In 2008, I published my first book. I currently write a monthly article for the "MundoLatino" newspaper. Occasionally, I do contract work as a proofreader. I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encouragement is a large component of what is missing in a lot of today's public school classrooms and love the opportunity that tutoring can provide to children who can learn just as well as anyone else, but may not be finding success in the classroom.
