Reading is the Key to Success!

My teaching style is flexible. I create a lesson plan that is individualized and benficial to that of the student I am tutoring. I adapt and adjust the curriculum to what is of primary importance to my student.
I have worked in the field of education as a teacher for 30 years. I have taught basic skills in foundations of Reading to middle school students. I have also taught all subject areas to elementary school children. The most memorable and most valuable experience in my career was teaching first graders how to read. It takes a trained professional to be able to lay out the framework children need to learn how to read. As I mentioned in the above paragraph, I meet the child where they are in their learning style. I can adapt to how they learn best and then use different activities and tools to again, "drive home" the concept of what the child may be struggling with. I love teaching anything!
When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, I accepted a job at a small school in upstate NY that needed a PE teacher. I quickly learned to just relax and "go with the flow" of how the students learned the material and what kind of different activities that we could do to "drive home" the concept of what we were studying.
