Ever since I was little I loved helping other people with school. I spent my summer with my aunt teaching English to Spanish speaking natives and my cousins. Even though I can teach well with large groups I have always felt a child learns best one-on-one. It eliminates competition and helps the child develop confidence in himself and the desire to learn. I like to find the area where a child is struggling and come up with a creative fun way that allows them to learn but also the encourages them to continue working on their own when I am not there. I taught public school for 4 years before getting a masters degree in Religious Education with a Concentration in Childhood Education. I wanted to complement my undergraduate Elementary Education degree. Therefore, I choose the childhood education concentration at seminary. Then I was a Assoicate Pastor for Children for over 13 years where I supervised paid workers and planned activities for a children's ministry at a local church. I enjoy teaching in many different ways, and as a Spanish teacher you must. Progressive theories always worked best for me, I believe in experiencing rather than just memorizing. Group activities, oral exercises, and projects let children be creative and learn at the same time, so that the learning becomes fun.
I graduated from Penn State University in 2005 with a BS in Secondary Education with a concentration in Spanish. I student taught in Pittsburgh, PA at a high school.
