My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I tutor through grade 2 math In Home or Library only

I truly enjoy working one on one with students. I get to know each student and family so that I can work to meet the individual needs of each student. Then I address those individual needs through personalized lesson plans to teach to the strengths of the whole child. With older students this can also be accomplished ONLINE in selected subjects. I am compassionate, kind, and patient. Especially for the younger students I understand that games and fun activities are important to maintain interest as well as short spans of time on each activity. Elementary Math is one of my top subjects! I have taught elementary grades for over 15 years.

My teaching style is to engage the student as much as possible and to utilize as many senses as possible. I will often use a "game" to practice a skill. When teaching a skill, my emphasis is understanding "why" something is done a particular way rather than stressing straight memorization.
I have taught "students" from age 3 to age 73. Most of my experience has been in elementary classroom situations, but I have tutored individual students, taught computer skills to business classes and senior citizens, as well as business technology classes in a community college. I am still a student in high school. I am a junior and take all senior classes. My favorite subject is math. I work really good with younger children and take my time to help them learn what they struggle in. When I was younger I had never wanted to get help for math and I took it upon myself to learn it and now its my strongest subject.
