With a B.A. in Journalism, I have written for radio, TV, national magazines and several newspapers. I have worked with college-age and adult students teaching them English speaking and writing skills. In pursuing my Master of Education in TESOL, I have learned how to teach students about grammar, writing and reading. I will receive my Masters of Education in TESOL this Saturday, May 2nd. I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.
I never give up on a child or an adult. I recently tutored a law enforcement official to help him understand and pass algebra. He didn't think anyone could help him. I have had the opportunity to work as a house mother at a home for at-risk teenage girls. I have also taught tenth and seventh grades English and history. I enjoy working with students one-on-one after school hours and learning how to develop their potential.
