I hold a B.A. degree in History from Eastern Illinois University and also have 26 hours of M.A. coursework in History from the same university. While at university, I was the editor of the student run journal Historia and was awarded the Lavern M. No matter what field I have worked in over the years, I have always made teaching a component of what I do. I love teaching children. It is a challenge to engage them in the process. I adapt my style to each child's needs and personality. Although I set boundaries, I am not comfortable with being a stern taskmaster. Students can then "fill in" this overview outline as new content is introduced, with open discussion and query to gain additional insights. Daily affirmation of progress with focused discussion addressing areas of needing improvement to keep engaged with consistent monitoring. Assessments should be brief with subsequent feedback soon after testing. Keeping within the overview outline while working each course section will serve to assist in learning comprehension and retention while developing a long term knowledge of the overall course curriculum.
