Russian Tutor Masters from BYU former BYU teacher

Every student has a different learning style and I therefore, have multiple teaching styles to accommodate. I believe in learning through experience and therefore provide my students with real-life examples and tasks to complete so that they are more able to function in Russian settings. I also include learning of Russian culture in my teaching because understanding culture is important to understanding language. Activities are engaging and not simply rote memorization. My students get to use their skills in practical settings and even talk to native Russians.

I was a natural born musician, started playing guitar at the age of 2. Later switched to piano and took formal lessons for 7 years. I have composed scores for several plays and small projects. I still compose music to this day. I gained an interest in French when I was in middle school. I like the tutoring environment because I like seeing individual progress. It is easier to assess where the child is. I believe that the basics are essential to moving forward in education. Memorization of math facts makes it easier for a child to learn new material because he isn't bogged down. I don't believe enough emphasis is placed on arithmetic in today's schools. Basic arithmetic skills make story problems easier. Types of story problems need to be practiced, not just thrown in at the end of a chapter without much information on how to do it. After graduating from Utah State, I taught 2nd grade for a year at a charter school. It was a good experience, but I wanted the chance to work with students in a variety of settings. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience with teaching piano lessons started in September 2006. I took Group Piano I, and Group Piano II the following semester. The students taught someone what was covered in each class. My first full-time student came at the end of the fall semester 2008. It was my first time teaching and getting paid. I evaluated how I did with teaching him after the six months. I have come up with some exercises that would prove that my students would excel at playing the piano if they will take the time to practice.
