A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy watching children learn and grow. I believe there are different teaching techniques for each individual student. I have come to learn this because of my younger sibling who didn't fit into the mold of a typical public school student. I am a firm believer in trying new things and new approaches.
As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this. During my last semester of college I observed 25 hours of speech and language therpay which involved watching both adults and children. This year I will be graduating with a 3.0 in my major. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I have a son with a learning disability whom I am now home-schooling. I realize that patience is key when teaching. However, I also feel that children do best when they are presented with a challenge. I use a great deal of encouragement and incentive to help a child achieve his/her goals. I believe you are never too young or too old to learn something new.
I grew up in Texas and attended Abilene Christian University for four years. This also included two summers in Mexico. I lack only one semester completing my BA in Spanish.
