A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching Biology 1100 for undergraduate offered by Idaho State University for past 2.5 years. Being a biology major i enjoy teaching biology and help student understanding basic foundation of science. Understanding is a part of learning where most of the student struggle. Helping students learn and learn how to grow

I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.
My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. It can be fun to learn, and even those subjects a student does not find enjoyable, can prove satisfying. What strikes me most as I look back at my education is how much of an impact a teacher can have when they make their subject relevant to their students. When I am teaching I try to find out what motivates each student as a person, in addition to what is motivating them to take the class. My goal is to find a way to present the material in such a way that the experience of learning is a journey of meaningful discovery that corresponds to the course content.

As a dentist, I was trained in classroom anatomy and physiology and laboratory gross anatomy with cadavers. I have used the information I learned in clinical practice and since retiring from dentistry to further my pleasure in continued medical learning. Anatomy has always been fascinating to me. All the "connections" so to speak that go together to make us functioning human beings! As for Japanese, I lived and worked in Japan for 16 years.
