I have experience in hands on teaching of students with their horses. I have worked on and off for many years helping memebers of local 4-H clubs prepare their animals for show. I enjoy seeing a student "click" with their project and be able to accomplish new goals. I think it is important to set specific goals for aech student and make those happen before you move on.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a full-time teacher for the past three years and substitute taught for one year. The past two years I have taught seventh and eighth grade math and social studies and sixth grade reading. The classes at the school where I teach are ability leveled, I teach the on-level ability students. The students in these classes often need extra help and more time and patience in understanding and mastering concepts. In addition to teaching, I have also tutored students of different ability and grade levels, both after school and during the summer months. I was also an instructor for the D.R.E.A.M.S. after school tutoring program in the Edison Local School District.

I knew I always wanted to work with children and I have loved all of my teaching experiences. I pushed myself to get a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from Duquesne University. Out of college I had a few long-term sub positions in area school districts before getting a full time teaching position at Charters Valley School District. At Charters Valley I taught eighth grade learning support for 4 years before transferring to be third grade classroom teacher for 2 years. My learning support classroom had a range of disabilities from reading difficulty to autism. I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others. I also have experience in teaching or helping coach little league sports educating kids on how to play games correctly. I have also been an assistant coach and helped out at Clinton Community College with girl’s softball under the head coach.
I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
