A Little Bit About Me...

I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. I also served as a reader for the SAT Writing section, so I am familiar with what they are seeking. I am very proficient in grammar and structure.
My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.

As a National Dean's List graduate from Alvernia University, I am driven towards high standards. I am semi-retired. Earning a Certified Public Accountant designation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has enabled me to gain a broad understanding in areas of accounting, auditing, taxation, and law. I believe the best way to teach students any skill is to let them have hands on experience with it. As an example, in order to learn business skills, students need to practice the skills and understand their relevance in the real world.

I tutored college students primarily in the fundamentals of algebra and English composition. In 2005, I was awarded the Student Support Service Award for tutoring. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from King's College and went on to earn a Juris Doctor.
