A Little Bit About Me...

Because science is a "hands-on" subject, I feel it is extremely important to use demonstrations, examples that are relevant to every-day life, experiments and anything else that will help students understand the world around them. I have been told that I have an "out-of-the-box" approach to learning, but have found it to be successful with the majority of students. Classroom discussions are utilized more often then lectures, because when a student plays an active role in their education, they learn more.
Over the past 12 years, I have worked in both the private and public sectors of the education community. I have taught grades 7-12 in all areas of science. A Little Bit About Me...

As a substitute teacher in the Bethalto school district, I feel I have been trained in all of the subjects necessary to tutor students. On a daily occurrence, I teach math, science, english, reading, social studies, etc. My specialties are english and reading. English was my minor in college and is something that has always been second nature to me. I was also a personal tutor for a child in the spring of '08 an fall of '08. His grades improved drastically from Ds and Fs, to Bs.
I have a very unique way of teaching. My key to success works on a system of discipline and rewards. I find creative ways to make the most mundane tasks fun to accomplish.
