I have been tutoring at Forsyth Technical Community College since September 2008. I work on average, over the 5 years, 15 hours a week, but now working 21 hours a week since I am now out of school. I have done private tutoring for about 3 years now, either with people from met from school or from tutoring. I got a BS in both Mathematics and Computer Science in May of 2013. Math and computers have always been my strength, and when getting my degree, I would always help my friends in their classes.
It depends on the student and what they are doing. If all they need is practice, then I will let the student do all of the work, interjecting only to give advice or to correct a mistake if the student does not catch it themselves. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student. I worked at Sloan Academics for one year in Winston-Salem as a academic tutor for a 6th-grade girl in all subjects. In January of 2009 I started the Master's Education program at Salem College to gain both a license as well as a Master's to teach secondary Mathematics.
