My comments on tutoring Sign Language : Certified educational sign language interpreter.

I am in my second year as a certified/licensed sign language interpreter. I currently interperet at West Aurora High school. I also interpret at many local churchs including weekly Mass or services, religious education or children's church. I interpret for local park districts in the area from theater arts to sport activities.
Sign langugage is a visual language and can be taught in various formats. My goal is to match whichever learning style is best to accomodate the specific student.

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age. I was a nanny for a family of three for a year right after graduating. It was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to create my own lessons and activities for the children. I believe that all children can learn, and when a child has difficulty grasping a concept, the teacher must change their technique. I have used a variety of methods when working with children. Manipulatives, flash cards ,games and stimulus equivalence training are just a few. I also believe that a child that needs extra help with a subject should not feel like they are being punished. A teaching session should not just help a person learn a concept, but help develop a passing for knowledge and learning.
