What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

My goal when tutoring is to figure out each student’s learning style. I then present the information in a way that they will be academically successful. I use a mixture of Audio, Visual and Hands-On methods. After each tutoring session, I have my students to tell me what they have learned to insure they have retained the information covered. I also give short quizzes of the most important concepts. I am a very good listener and very patient. A Little Bit About Me...

The teaching style I prefer begins with making each child feel important and presenting the material in a way that everyone understands and feels comfortable. I'm currently enrolled in the Start Smart Early Childhood Subtitute teaching program sponsored though the United Way. This training provides an on hands class stimulation and different teaching methods. It is my goal to make learning fun and rewarding.
I have no teaching experience but I'm in the process of getting my State Of Georgia teaching certification though troops to teachers program sponsor by the Georgia Department of Labor. I also applied and was accepted in the Thomson Learning program teaching ESL in South Korea for one year. I was also employed part time as a GED Test Proctor though Harrisburg Area Community College. I was a male mentor and a member of the Big Brother Program in Harrisburg PA.
