Versatile Hands-on Tutor for all Age ranges

I prefer hands on teaching, but I like to remain flexible to the individuals learning style. Depending on the topics covered, we read, write, and do hands-on activities to keep the brain stimulated. Sometimes if applicable, and with parental consent, we would do art projects and maybe watch an educational film (that the parent has approved of course). For sciences and social studies I really like the idea of field trips, but everything will be permitted by the parental figures first. These field trips usually include going to parks and observing natural habitats, or even visiting the local museums. We can usually negotiate a small group trip which makes the costs slim to none to have these extra curricular activities.

I like to use the book as an outline of the material to be taught. Visual aids are very important to me. I believe pictures are worth a thousand words. I am very patient and great with communicating ideas to others.
While a student, I was a teachers assistant in a chemistry lab at my college. During school, I spent numerous hours studying with large groups of students. Together we practiced methods for teaching our knowledge, this way everyone in the group understood the material.

I enjoy working with kids and teaching the things that I have learned. I am confident that I can make concepts as simple as possible, so people who usually have trouble understanding ideas in math and science may have a breakthough. Coming from a very competitive school like UCLA I have acquired skills in test taking which are very valuable and I would like to pass these on to prospective college students.
As a Biology student at both Saddleback and the ultra competitive UCLA, I was able to achieve high marks in all of the core cirriculum. Subjects I am very familar with are physics, chemistry, math up to 1st semester calculus, biology and biochem.I also recieved an A in every english class I have ever attended. Having worked with students of all ages in a variety of settings, I specialize in teaching science and math concepts as well as test prep and study skills. My mission as a tutor is to help students understand subject content while learning how to learn. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching confusion and doubt become knowledge and confidence.
