Science and math is best taught using self discovery and inquiry. I use these methods extensively. Patience is necessary as you first model, then assist, and finally use practice so the student gains fluency in the skill. I plan lessons around individual learning style and ability. Tough love is needed so a student will reach potential as is recognition of progress. I used my tecnical skills in the real world for 35 years. Hence I bring real world applications that are relevant and familiar to the student. This experience gives me a large portfolio of examples and approaches to explain what are often abstract concepts. A Little Bit About Me...

In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. Regardless of the learning style, I have learned that it is my job to make learning relevant and meaningful to students.
The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society. The teacher also helps build a foundation in subject matter to help develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the world through different disciplines.
