I have tutored kids at my Church whenever someone has needed help. I am very patient and understanding of how frustrating certain topics can be, so I know I am a great candidate for tutoring. I am exceptionally great with younger kids who have ADD or ADHD since I have struggled with that myself. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a great joy working with children because most of them are eager to learn. Along with patience and proper instruction I am a firm believer the scores will be achieved without the child feeling diappointed. I believe through visual picture walks and other techniques children want to be successful and make their parents and teachers happy. I use an intercultural (as opposed to assimilationist) perspective, knowing that language teachers also teach culture; this is not only desirable, it is probably unavoidable. We cannot allow the material on testing instruments to dictate the entire scope of what we teach. I still find it difficult to convince many people that literacy, strictly speaking, is usually not the challenge adult ELLs face. Their challenges usually consist in expanding the English they learned in school, so that it becomes useful for academic purposes, or for basic life-skills in a new country.
