Academic Learning to Standards and Beyond!

University of California-Berkeley graduate in individual major titled "Diplomacies to End the Division of Europe-1949-1990." Tutored English to German students in Germany, and returned to America to "give back". Specializing in one-on-one tutoring with resources and interactive activities found on the internet as well as worksheets on paper. As an Adult Education teacher I taught learners from High School age through 70 year-olds. I taught office occupations; ESL; and GED, ABS, HS diploma and citizenship. Since I have worked students with a wide variety of learning issues; I feel that I am well prepared to assess and deliver educational materials and instruction to any student. A Little Bit About Me...

I was raised in a family of teachers. Both my parents have been teachers, and my older brother and sister are both currently teachers. As an psychiatric technician at Napa State Hospital, I was chosen to become a trainer, teaching a new computer system being implemented to nursing and other staff throughout the hospital. I developed classes and created lesson plans for those classes, as well as providing individual training. I held this position for 2 years.
I believe a large part of teaching is to find ways of motivating students to learn. I like to show my students how what they are learning applies to their everyday lives. I encourage active participation by the student. In order to continually improve my own teaching skills, feedback on my own performance is highly valued. Math is a favorite subject of mine, and I would like to have the opportunity to tutor this subject.
