I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. Kind and patient tutor for math, science & computing.

Patient, relaxed, friendly. Able to translate concepts into different scenarios in order to help the student grasp the concept.
Although not degreed in math, science or computers, they were my favorite subjects. More importantly, I am gifted in communicating concepts into terms my students understand and grasp. Repetition doesn't equate to learning, it's a component, it's a way to practice, but it is not how the mind grasps the concept. I have always enjoyed English and Writing. I have kept a journal since I was in the 1st grade. I scored very high in these areas on my ACT's, as well as in all of my high school and college classes. Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style. A Little Bit About Me...

I've always enjoyed the art of communicating complicated material to those who are just learing or don't quite "get it". My focus is to break things down into basic elements and achieve agreement. Then, support learning with repetition. For example: "Would you agree that if we add 5 and 5 and then another 5 that we would end up at 15?" "So, then, 5 added together three times equals 15, right?"
