A Little Bit About Me...

I myself am a visual and auditory learner, so I am very open to all types of teaching styles. I find that people learn better when several avenues of learning are available for a subject. Also repetition is a very important device for making knowledge permanent. I like to bring a fun and light atmosphere to learning.
While working on my undergrad I was given the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a freshman college level film theory and design class. During this opportunity I was responsible for grading the daily work of our students, as well as being a resource for the students design projects. I taught lectures based on film theory and design, as well as specific pieces of film.

I have been teaching computers for over 14 years. Subject that I am able to teach: Any level of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio, Project). I am also able to teach any version from 2000-2010. I have also taught QuickBooks, and Quicken for many years. I also know GroupWise, and many other email systems. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BS in elementary education. I student taught at Morehead Elementary school in kindergarten with Jeanelle Lindsay. During this time I also tutored third graders at Morehead. I have held several tutoring positions in both high school and college, and find great joy in working with children one on one. I have tutored elementary age, and some high school age students in math, science, reading/ english as well as history.

I believe that children must be engaged in the subject matter before successful learning takes place. Finding fun, interesting, and personal ways for the child to connect to the topic will truly allow them a chance to learn and retain information. I love finding different ways for individual learners to understand what they are being taught.
I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program.
